Guild Concept

tools.jpgThis is the e-conversion of my original paper concept for a raiding guild. I originally designed this when Critical Mass was being formed as a way to help manage the most efficiently without compromising guild goals.

It uses a simple rank structure for the core/foundation of the guild. There are still key roles that need to be filled and needs of the guild to be attended too. This rank structure help achieve both of these goals by using a “check and balance” system as well as using a no stalemate decision making process.

Note that there are only 6 officers, limiting these positions helps limit bickering and infighting within the officer rank. In using a smaller number means that every officer is sharing in the process of guild control. Some officers will have addition duties, these duties are required to maintain a steady rate of progression.

The GM will have the veto power if the result would end in negative raid progression for the guild (e.g. Changing raid times or dates that would not allow primary roles to be filled).

Some officer positions have assistant positions associated with them and others have subordinate positions.

The assistant roles are used in times when the primary officer is unavailable. The assistant have no voting power/nor attendance within the GM/Officer meetings. The reason for this is to maintain the integrity of the controlling core of the guild.

Subordinate roles are used to help distribute the work load of the officer during key times. These roles are primarily focused on coordination prior to and during raids. These people will need to have an intimate knowledge of how each class and spec under their control can contribute to raid efficiency. Pairing classes together within the raid group to add efficiency and total raid benefit.

Examples:
Placing Enhancement Shammy and/or Ret Pally in melee group
Using Warlock imp to add health buff to tank group
Elemental Shammy in caster DPS group

The General Officer rank may have addition responsibilities (e.g. website management) as needed by the guild. If such a responsibility is added to the rank there needs to be an assistant or subordinate role added to maintain continuity is the primary officer is unavailable.

Loot System:

A DKP system is most feasible in this concept. It allows for rewards based on participation and ensures loot is distributed fairly among all guild members. The system will use a point reward system for signing up, being on time and prepared, guild first kills and EPICs looted during the raid.
This will be a bid system with a minimum bid and a maximum bid. Every EPIC looted will have a point cost assigned (e.g. Primal Vortex – 10 and EPIC Gem – 20). There will also be a DKP ceiling to prevent hoarding of DKP. These initial DKP level can be adjusted later on and should be reviewed on a systematic basis to allow for a timely adjustment if needed.

Membership:

All potential members will have to apply for entry into the guild. Their application will be reviewed by all officers and a dialogue with the associated raid coordinator will be used for approval or decline. If the applicant is approved they will be invited to the guild and will begin a 2 week trial period. They will be allowed to attend raids and will be awarded DKP just as full members are awarded. They however, will not be allowed to bid on any items during this time frame. After the two week period a second dialogue will begin with the officers and raid coordinator to see if the candidate is to be awarded full membership. The criteria used are social abilities, knowledge of class/spec, gear review to include enchants and socketing, raid performance.

Each member of the guild will be allowed 1 alt character of their choice. The alternate character can be used at anytime for raids as needed by the raid leader. If the raid leader needs an alt character for raid balance then the player will have access to main character DKP if needed. If the player wished to bring their alt character to a raid then that character will be assigned its own DKP.

If at anytime a member is found to be acting inappropriate they will be demoted to a temporary rank until they are able to control them self. If this happens in a raid environment they will be immediately removed from the raid and their position filled by characters on the waiting list.

If the improper behavior continues they will be demoted to the initial rank again and will be given two weeks to correct or begin working with the officers to correct the issue. At the end of the two weeks the member will be up for review using the same criteria as applicants. Failure to meet the criteria will result in immediate removal from the guild. Also, a guild officer will be assigned to document why the member was removed from the guild. This documentation will not include the results of the review but the fact that the decision was made my majority vote.

Officers will be held to a higher standard of conduct. If the officer is unable to meet these standards or continue to function in their current role they will be asked to step down. If they choose to step down a replacement from within the guild will be nominated and voted on anonymously. The potential member will be unaware of their pending promotion to prevent hard feeling in the event of a negative vote.

Raids:

All raids will be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. All raid invite will begin at 7:15 server time and the raid will begin at 7:30 server time. If for some reason there are not enough signups for the raid the raid will be cancelled. It needs to be shown that the raids will only happen when if there is interest by the guild.

Raid add-ons will be required prior to entering the raid zone. If a member is found to be without a required add-on they will not receive DKP for being on time and prepared. If this behavior continues the member will be not be permitted to attend a guild raid for one week.

Raiding outside of the guild is unacceptable in any form. If the guild has past content and does not raid that zone any longer then a PUG group will be authorized. The decision to allow this will be made by the GM and Officers.

If a member is found to be raiding outside of the guild they will be demoted to initiate rank and will be pending review of their actions.

PvP:

There is no policy currently against PvP. This will only be passed if raid attendance is compromised.
