So I was listening to a few podcasts to make the torture of work pass by and I heard the most interesting thing. Leveling is not going to be similar to any other MMO out there, well none that I have ever heard of doing this sort of thing. Yes, you gain levels and from the sound of it the level cap is set at 40. The deal is you don’t gain any new powers that make you so uber you can 1-shot a low level mob. They actually said in the podcast that if a level 40 and level 1 player equipped with the same items went head-to-head, they would have the same chance at hitting the other person by removeing “artifical misses” from the combat system. Very interesting, I can’t wait to see how it works.
It seems that a good portion of the game and this also means the combat system will revolve around itemization. I guess this gets the casual players involved in the game. I know first hand how frustrating some games can get, especially when your game time is limited. So not only will combat be mainly item based but you will be able to solo most of the game. The podcast even said you will be able to solo instance some areas but in order to fully enjoy the content a group is advised.

Thanks Thomas, I guess beta registration has been open for so long that I just assumed most people interested in the game had already applied for beta.
